Households in an area of Aberdeen have been left with discoloured water due to a burst main on a city street.
Supply to residents in Willowpark Crescent, Mastrick was cut off today as a result of the incident.
Scottish Water workers were sent to carry out repairs and restored the water service in the area.
However, calls quickly began to come in to the firm from customers complaining of murky water coming from their taps.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said people in the area could expect “loss of water supply, low pressure, and discoloured water” until work is finished tomorrow.
It is thought up to 150 properties might have been affected by the incident.
The spokesman added: “We have received a small number of calls this evening following a burst water main at Willowpark Crescent.
“Water has been restored to customers affected. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Discoloured water can sometimes appear following a burst water main.”
He added that discolouration of water was “quite normal for a burst water main”.
He said: “It doesn’t look like normal water, basically people need to run their taps and it will settle.
“It’s not at all unusual, it happens when there’s a burst water main.
“People won’t be used to it, it will look different if you run the tap it will eventually clear.”
Further work will be carried out on the water main “to complete the repair” will begin tomorrow morning.
