A 12-year-old schoolboy was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary yesterday after being struck by a car outside a city secondary school.
It came as the north-east was hit by a series of road accidents.
The incident involving a red Ford Fiesta happened outside St Machar Academy, on St Machar Drive, just after 8.30am.
An ambulance spokesman said the S1 pupil was taken to ARI with minor back pain.
Earlier yesterday, a white Mercedes van landed on its side in a field off the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road, just north of the Inveramsay Bridge, at around 7am.
Police were called to the scene at 7.10am, but nobody was injured.
Work on a long-awaited £10million project to upgrade the bottleneck at the bridge began last week.
Hold-ups at the bridge are a constant source of frustration for drivers, who face long queues at peak times to negotiate the traffic lights-controlled bend.
The upgrade includes replacing the crossing and realigning the road so there is no need for traffic lights, which should improve the flow of traffic.
Elsewhere, a man was taken to the infirmary with neck and back injuries following an incident on the northbound lane of the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road, near the Charleston flyover, at around 11.20am.
The crash between a white DAF car transport lorry, a yellow DAF lorry and a white Ford Transit Tipper van happened at around 11.20am.
The car transport vehicle was carrying several cars when the crash took place.
One of the vehicles being transported – a red Renault – was left close to toppling from the vehicle and could be seen balancing above the driver’s cabin.
The car appeared to have been stopped from falling off the vehicle by the yellow lorry it had collided with.
Police were on the scene for almost two hours redirecting traffic until the vehicles were recovered.
A police spokesman warned motorists to “expect delays” on the busy route.
He added: “We got the call came at 11.20am, it was between the Charleston Flyover and Portlethen. One northbound lane was blocked.
“There was minor injuries to one male.”
