A man was taken to hospital after a car left an Aberdeenshire road and landed on its roof yesterday.

The incident involving a blue Peugeot 206 happened on the South Deeside Road, between Crathes and Banchory at around 3.15pm yesterday.

The car is said to have hit trees by the roadside before it landed on its roof on an embankment one mile east of the Bridge of Feugh.

Police, fire and rescue and ambulance services were all called to the scene following the incident.

Two people were left trapped in the toppled car following the incident, managing to free themselves before firefighters arrived on scene.

After being released from the car the man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

An ambulance spokeswoman said his injuries were not believed to be serious.

A police spokesman said: “Initial reports were that they managed to get themselves free.”

Motorists experienced delays for around an hour following the incident, however the road was not closed.

Two fire and rescue teams were sent from Banchory at 3.30pm but were not required to release the occupants.

A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We didn’t really do anything, we just made the scene safe. We got the call at 3.30pm.”

The car will be recovered from the roadside today.
