Aberdeen shoppers encouraged to park at council HQ

Shoppers in Aberdeen are being encouraged to park in staff spaces at the city council’s HQ this weekend.
The 92-space Marischal College car park, off Queen Street, is usually reserved for local authority employees.
But on Saturdays from 8am-6pm and Sundays from 1pm-5pm members of the public can use the facility.
The car park charges £2.20 for up to two hours, £3.30 for two to three hours and £4.40 for three to four hours.
Its barriers close at 8.30pm on Saturday and at 5.30pm on Sunday, when the pedestrian and vehicle accesses and exits are also closed off.
Councillor Neil Cooney, who is communities, housing and infrastructure convener, said: “The Marischal College car park is significantly under-used during the times it is available for public use.
“It is a very handy city centre car park, however, and I would urge people to take advantage of the spaces, especially at this busy time of year when parking spaces in the city can be at a premium.”
