Three people were taken to hospital following a crash on an Aberdeenshire road this morning.
Fire and rescue, police and ambulance services were called to the incident on the A96 Huntly to Glens of Foudland road, near Bains Hole, at around 10.30am.
Two men and a woman were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated following the crash between an Audi Q3 and a white Ford Transit van.
Eleven firefighters in two fire appliances were called to the scene of the incident from Huntly.
The mangled wreck of the van was barely recognisable following the incident, with pieces of its engine spilling from the ruins of its bonnet and the windshield shattered.
The front of the Audi was also destroyed with its engine left exposed.
A fire and rescue spokesman said: “It was at Bains Hole and involved two vehicles, there were three casualties in total, we sent both pumps from Huntly station with 11 firefighters in them.
“We cleared the scene. The call came in at 10.30am. The stop message came in at 10.55am. I think they were all out on arrival. We helped with first aid.”
An ambulance spokesman said: “We had two ambulances attending. One ambulance took in two people – one male and a female – and the other took in the other male.”
The road was closed around the scene of the incident for more than an hour as the vehicles were recovered.
A police spokesman said: “There was not life-threatening injuries, the cars have been recovered and the persons are away to hospital for assessment and treatment. We got the call at 10.20am.”
