A car was left with its rear axle ripped out following a dramatic crash on a snowy Highland road this evening.
Inverness police were called to the scene of the crash on the A96 at 8.20pm, after two cars, both travelling eastbound, were involved in a crash.
Nobody was hurt as a result of the crash, which left a silver Volkswagen Golf with its rear axel and one of its wheels torn from underneath the car after it collided with a grey Vauxhall Corsa just east of Inverness.
The road was blocked from the time the three police vehicles arrived until 8.50pm, once the wreckage and the cars were removed from the road, near the junction to the Norbord industrial site.
A police spokesman said:”We were called to the incident at 8.20pm, and by about ten minutes to nine the vehicles were removed from the site.
“There were no casualties.”
