A historic Aberdeenshire crossing will close later this month to allow for vital work to take place.
The Ardlethen Bridge, near Ellon, will be closed on Monday, March 23, for inspection and engineering works.
The structure is located on the C42B Boat Wood to Esslemont road and will be closed between 1pm and 4pm.
Motorists are being asked to use an alternative route via the A920 Oldmeldrum to Ellon road, Ellon’s Station Road and the B9005 Ellon to Methlick road.
The bridge was built in the 1890s, on the site of an ancient ferry crossing on the River Ythan just outside Ellon.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokeswoman said: “The work is part of Aberdeenshire Council’s yearly inspection programme and involves the use of specialist under bridge access equipment.
“Aberdeenshire Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during the works.”
