Eight bridges across the north-east will close this month as the local authority carries out a series of inspections and engineering works.
Aberdeenshire Council has warned there will be “no practical alternative” for drivers when the Invercauld Bridge, near Braemar, closes on Monday, March 16, from 7-9pm.
The crossing is on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road and council workers will only allow emergency and bus access at the spot during the works.
Elsewhere, the Dee Bridge, in Ballater, on the B976 South Deeside Road, will be closed on Tuesday, March 17 from 7-9pm and the Ardlethen Bridge, near Ellon, on Monday, March 23, for inspection and engineering works.
The crossing over the River Ythan, built in the 1890s, is located on the C42B Boat Wood to Esslemont road and will be shut between 1-4pm.
Motorists are being asked to use an alternative route via the A920 Oldmeldrum to Ellon road, Ellon’s Station Road and the B9005 Ellon to Methlick road.
The work is part of the council’s yearly inspection programme.
Elsewhere the Buchaam Bridge, on the A97 Dinnet to Huntly road, between Glenkindie and Bellabeg, will be closed on Wednesday, March 18 from 7-9pm.
The Bridge of Alford will close on March, 19 from 7-9pm, with alternative routes available through Montgarrie, Keig and Whitehouse, and the Montgarrie Bridge will close the next day between 1-4pm.
The Don Bridge at the Mill of Brux, on the C65M, will also be closed on Thursday, March 19, from 1-4pm and the Bridge of Keig, on the B992 Insch to Auchterlass road, will be closed on Friday, March 20, from 9am-noon.
An Aberdeenshire spokeswoman said: “Aberdeenshire Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during the works.
“For all closures, emergency and pedestrian access will be maintained. Vehicular access to affected properties will be maintained wherever possible.”
