Residents in rural Aberdeenshire have raised £10,000 for a new path to link parts of their community and improve safety.
People living at Ballogie banded together to secure the cash for the foot and cycle route for the area, between Birse and Finzean.
Locals say it will improve safety for pedestrians, who currently have to walk along the busy South Deeside Road.
The winding road is often used by parents to take their children to Ballogie Nursery.
The Ballogie Community Association (BCA), in partnership with Ballogie Estate and local farmer Gordon Dinnie, has been calling for the construction of the half-mile path for some time.
The last of the required funding was granted to the association by Awards for All Scotland, and the new pathway means Ballogie will now be provided with better links to neighbouring Marywell.
Residents also received funding from Aberdeenshire Council, shipping firm Teekay Petrojarl and British Polar Engines.
The pathway will be constructed by Ballogie man James Reid.
Ballogie parent and BCA committee member, Fiona Carter, said: “It’s been so frustrating living in this beautiful place, only 400 metres (1,300ft) from the nursery, but having to take my daughter Millie to nursery in the car.
“I can’t wait for the path to be built so we can walk or cycle to nursery. The nursery staff are also pleased because the path will allow more opportunities for the children to explore the countryside around them.”
