Transport bosses are arranging alternative transport for passengers travelling between Aberdeen and Inverness after a woman’s body was found on a train line.
The incident happened around 6pm in the Wittet Drive area of Elgin.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to an area of railway line where the body of a woman was found.
“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
The Scotrail vehicle had left Aberdeen at 5.15pm for Inverness.
ScotRail has advised that services between Aberdeen and Inverness have been delayed, with disruption lasting until 9pm.
A spokesman confirmed that alternative transport had been arranged from Elgin to Inverness and from Forres to Aberdeen for passengers affected.
The ScotRail spokesman added: “We apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused by this sad incident.”
