A biker killed in a crash at the foot of Cairn O’Mount has been described as a “lovely”, popular man.
Frank MacDonald died on Saturday after his blue Suzuki GSXR collided with a grey Toyota Hilux on a rural road in Aberdeenshire.
Last night the 44-year-old was described as a “much loved son, brother and father-of-three” who would be “greatly missed”.
And tributes also poured in on social media, with residents from Mr MacDonald’s hometown describing it as a “sad day for Brechin”.
It is understood Mr MacDonald worked at the town’s Flicks nightclub during its heyday in the 1980s.
Friend Mary Fraser said it had been a “sad day for Brechin”, adding: “It’s lost a well liked and respected man. I’m sure everyone has lots of memories of Frank MacDonald.
“It’s devastating news to the town and to all his family and friends. I first met Frank when I worked with him in Flicks and he always gave you a good laugh.
“My thoughts are with his children and his parents and family and friends at this very sad time . He will be sadly missed. RIP Frank MacDonald.”
Another friend added: “In memory of Frank (Funky) MacDonald. A nice lad who grew into a lovely man. (I’m) sure he’ll be sadly missed in Brechin. RIP.”
Angela Crosby said: “So sad – a lovely man x”.
The incident happened on an unclassified road merging the B974 Banchory to Fettercairn road with the B976 Strachan to Aboyne road at around 2pm.
The road was closed for about eight hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
A police spokeswoman said yesterday: “The collision happened at about 2pm on Saturday, June 20 2015 and involved a blue Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and a grey Toyota Hilux car. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
“Frank’s family are understandably upset by the sudden loss of their much loved son, brother and father of three and have said that he will be greatly missed.”
