A body was found on the main railway line between Aberdeen and Inverness yesterday afternoon, leading to the cancellation of a number of train services.
Emergency services were called to the scene, between Aberdeen and Dyce stations, at around 3pm after a man reportedly fell from Union Bridge.
A number of Scotrail train services between Aberdeen Station and Inverness and Inverurie stations were cancelled.
The line was reopened at around 5.30pm but some services were delayed due to the earlier closure.
Emergency services – including British Transport Police officers – remained at the scene for several hours.
A Scotrail spokeswoman said: “We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by this incident.”
