A drunk man terrorised his fellow passengers on an Aberdeen train bound for Dundee at the weekend.
British Transport Police (BTP) has appealed for information after the man “behaved in an anti-social and disorderly manner” as he travelled between Aberdeen and Montrose on Saturday, September 12.
The man, believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s, is reported to have shouted and swore at other passengers.
Police say he also threw two mobile phones in the rear carriage of the 22.27 Aberdeen to Dundee service, before alighting from the train at Montrose station shortly after 11pm.
He is described as being of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a short dark green jacket, blue jeans, light brown boots and spoke with a local accent.
Officers will be reviewing CCTV in an attempt to identify him. In the meantime Constable Craig Allan, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “The behaviour of the man, who was obviously under the influence of alcohol, is not acceptable and others on the train shouldn’t be forced to tolerate it on their journey.
“I am therefore asking anyone who was on the train or at any of the stations and can provide information which can help BTP identify him to get in touch.”
British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016. Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
There is no CCTV footage or stills available to release at this time.
