An Aberdeenshire road has been forced to close for seven days due to flooding caused by torrential rain.
The B974 Cairn O’Mount road, which connects Strachan to Fettercairn through the Grampian mountains, will not reopen until next Friday.
The north-east was battered with rain throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting a warning from Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa).
Emergency drainage works will now be carried out between Clatterin Brig Restaurant on the Fettercairn side of the hill and the AA box on the Strachan end.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokeswoman said: “The B974 Cairn O’Mount road will be closed for a further seven days to allow for emergency drainage works following the recent heavy rain.
“The road is now scheduled to reopen on Friday, October 16 at the latest.
“Emergency and school access will be maintained, as will vehicle access to affected properties where possible.
“Aberdeenshire Council apologises for any inconvenience the works may cause.”
An alternative route has been proposed along the A93 Aberdeen to Banchory road, the A957 Crathes to Stonehaven road, the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road.
