The A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road has been closed this evening due to a number of vehicles getting stuck in the heavy snowfall.
Police have closed both lanes of the major north-east road tonight at the Glens of Foudland, between Colpy and Huntly, after vehicles have become stuck in the snow.
The road has been closed until police have assisted all the motorists in freeing their vehicles.
A police spokeswoman said at this point it is not known how long it will take until the road re-opens, and motorists are advised to avoid the area and take extra care on the roads this evening.
UPDATE: Police have confirmed the road has now been re-opened.
