Pig producers made a loss despite a drop in the cost of production

A number of pigs are on the loose after a tractor overturned on an Aberdeenshire road.

Police have closed the A920 Ellon to Pitmedden road near Duotool after the farm vehicle was involved lost control at about 12.20pm.

The tractor is believed to have been towing the animals along the route when it overturned.

A police spokeswoman said the pigs were  “all over the road”.

She added: “We got reports of an overturned tractor hauling pigs near Duotool. The pigs are running all over the road. The road is going to be closed just for now.”

The road is closed between Western Road in Ellon and the Esslement area
