Police closed part of the A920 Ellon to Pitmedden road for almost two hours after the farm vehicle involved lost control at about 12.20pm. The tractor was towing a trailer with about 40 of the animals when it overturned. When it toppled, they made off in all directions and police were forced to close the road between Western Place in Ellon and the Esslemont. Pigs on the loose near Ellon. Credit: Laura Welsh. Aberdeenshire Council were also called in to help clear the route. A police spokesman said that there was “no injuries to man or beast”. A spokeswoman for the force added: “We got reports of an overturned tractor hauling pigs near Duotool. The pigs are running all over the road.” A fire and rescue spokeswoman said its crews were alerted of the incident. She said: “We were called out but were actually stood down before we got there. It was an appliance from Ellon.” Pigs on the loose near Ellon. Credit: Laura Welsh. Credit: Laura Welsh.
