Flooding misery and traffic chaos hits Scottish roads

While many motorists have been trying to adjust to the Forth Road Bridge closure, they have been presented with another problem for much of the day.

Many parts of the country have been battered with severe gales and downpours, leading to flooding on the roads.

Earlier today, the Crathie to Braemar stretch of the A93 Ballater to Braemar road was shut due to flooding.

And the A82 is currently closed between Spean Bridge and Invergarry due to a landslide.

But the north of Scotland has come out relatively unscathed so far, with much of the stormy weather affecting the central belt, and the Borders.

A jack-knifed FedEx lorry hit the central reservation on the M8 at Bathgate, West Lothian

Scores of people have also taken to Twitter to share images of the devastation.

Meanwhile, a number of games on this weekend’s Scottish football fixture card have had to be called of due to the weather.
