An Aberdeenshire road is closed this morning after dropping temperatures caused an ice hazard on the road.
The B974 Cairn O’ Mount closed in both directions between the A93 High Street junction in Banchory and the School Road junction in Fettercairn.
Meanwhile the A939 is closed in both directions between the B9008 junction in Tomintoul and the A944 junction in Cock Bridge, because of snow.
It will be rather cloudy with showers over parts of Moray and western Aberdeenshire today, which will be wintry at first.
The best of the dry and bright weather will be in the east along the North Sea coast.
Fresh southwesterly winds with a maximum temperature of 8 °C will make for a nippy day across the region.
Tonight shopuld be mainly cloudy at with sme showers.
Then it will become drier and clearer for a time before persistent and heavy rain arrives overnight.
Southwesterly winds strengthening to gale force later.
Minimum Temperature 3 °C.
Tomorrow it looks like heavy rain at first followed by bright spells and intermittent showers.
This will be along with very strong west or southwesterly winds with widespread severe gales.
It will turn colder later with sleet and snow showers overnight.
Expect a bitterly cold Saturday with sleet or snow showers and gales.
