A lorry driver smashed into three cars while using his mobile phone behind the wheel of a HGV on the motorway.
Razvan Rusu, 30, injured two motorists when he crashed into slow moving traffic while playing on his mobile for two kilometres before the smash.
The Romanian national, who fled to Romania after the incident in March, was summoned before the courts and his passport seized when he returned to Britain.
Earlier this month Rusu was hauled before Harrow Crown Court where he was jailed for eight months and banned from driving for three years.
The court heard how one male driver had noticed the speeding HGV and managed to swerve out of the way, avoiding a potentially fatal injury on the M1 near junction 2.
