Police confirmed that the 31-year-old had been injured after officers fired shots at 9.37am today. An armed response was sent to the scene following a “concern for the safety of the public” in the Charles Street area. The man, who cannot yet be named, is now receiving medical attention. Large screens have been put up around a car park in Francis Street and one around a nearby building. A report has been handed to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, where an investigation of the incident will be carried out.
