MPs currently considering the impact of brain tumours on sufferers, families and the NHS are urging people to share their experiences as part of their inquiry.
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours (APPGBT) wants to shine a light on the economic and social costs of brain tumours for those living with them, and treating them. They want to get a better understanding, from the appearance of symptoms right through to treatment and beyond.
The inqury is keen to hear from any member of the public affected by a brain tumour in any way, including from friends, family and colleagues of brain tumour patients.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40s, yet receive a tiny proportion of the funding available for research.
Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael, vice-chairman of APPGBT, urged people to share their experiences before the deadline on Friday.
He said: “This inquiry will help us understand the impact of brain tumours on individuals who suffered from it, and their loved ones. I would encourage anyone who can respond, to do so. The All Party Group work to improve the research and understanding of this debilitating disease, which is the biggest cancer killer of those under 40.
“I have been moved by many stories of people who have struggled with this condition, and those stories deserve to be told, and to be listened to by key decision makers, and that is what this consultation is about.”
