Ponchos and wellies have been the order of the day after music fans were pelted by hailstones and lashed with rain. Last night thunder and lightening forced a brief halt to the music during Rudimental’s set. But spirits are high with a host of top musical performances still to come tonight. Metallica will headline the Pyramid Stage tonight, despite criticism that their thrash metal style does not fit with the Glastonbury vibe. Other acts performing today include Jack White, Robert Plant, Jake Bugg and the Manic Street Preachers. Among the stars reportedly in the crowd today were film star Bradley Cooper, singer Florence Welch and tv presenter Alexa Chung. One of tomorrow’s highlights are expected to include Dolly Parton. The country singer, whose best known hits include Jolene and Nine to Five, is making her Glastonbury debut. Kasabian will bring the event to a close, with The Black Keys, Ed Sheeran and Massive Attack also due to appear.
