Police investigating a sex offence allegation involving an underage boy are searching a property belonging to Sir Cliff Richard.
Officers have removed a number of items from the house in Berkshire, but no arrests have been made.
The allegation, involving a boy under-16, is understood to date back to 1980s and centre in the South Yorkshire area.
The search is not connected to Operation Yewtree which snared a number of celebrities such as Rolf Harris in relation to historical sexual offences. But officers from that operation have been notified.
In a statement, police said: “South Yorkshire Police has gained entry to a property in the Sunningdale area of Berkshire.
“Officers are currently searching the property.
“A search warrant was granted after police received an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.
“No one has been arrested and the owner of the property was not present.”
Sir Cliff, born Harry Webb, has sold more than 20 million singles and was knighted in 1995.
