The sport of kings holds plenty of appeal for duchesses too it seems.
Camilla, Duchess of Rothesay, was photographed yesterday urging on the horses and riders during ladies day at the Cheltenham Festival.
Dressed for the changeable March weather in smart tweed coat, leather gloves and fur-trimmed hat, she was joined in the temporary royal box by son Tom Parker Bowles – now a food writer and critic – and daughter Laura Lopes.
And judging by their expressions, his chances of bankrupting the bookies appeared to be stronger than those of his mother and sister.
Earlier Camilla mingled with other famous faces on the second day of the race festival, including reality TV star and horsewoman Katie Price and novelist Jilly Cooper.
Fellow horse-racing fan Zara Phillips was also in attendance, while the Manchester United first team were flown in by helicopter.
The festival – one of the top events on the horse-racing calendar – concludes tomorrow.
