Firefighters have caught on camera the traumatic four hours they spent freeing a cow after it got its head stuck in a tree.
During the rescue mission four fully grown bulls showed interest in the trapped cow and had to be scared away by the fire crews who turned their hoses on each of the interested parties.
The drama unfolded on Saturday in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
RSPCA animal welfare officer Andy Snowdon said: “On top of the steep conditions, there were also four large, angry bulls standing guard over the cow, so I am very grateful to the fire service for attending
“The jets of water helped keep me safe while we winched the trees apart and managed to free the cow.
“I love all animals, but I have to admit having four large randy bulls circling around me was quite an interesting experience and one I don’t want to repeat any time soon.”
