West Mercia Police said the remains were found during a “routine survey” of the embankment of the M54 at junction four near Telford, Shropshire. The origins of the skull are not yet known and the eastbound sliproad is expected to be shut for the rest of the day. A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm inquiries are ongoing after what is believed to be a skull was uncovered.” More to follow.
