A family cat which vanished for 18 months has been found by its owners when they went to a rescue charity looking for a new one.
Michelle Humber’s family pet Phoenix was a “best friend” to her son, Ronnie Cockroft, five, before the cat vanished.
The disappearance left the family, who were then living in Chaddesden, Derby “gutted and devastated”.
Phoenix was going to be replaced when they visited the Cats Protection centre in Dalbury Lees last week.
Now this heart-melting footage of a little five-year-old boy in tears of joy when finding his long-lost cat in the rescue centre has emerged.
In an incredible coincidence, ten-year-old Phoenix was in an enclosure next to a cat called Orlando who they had arranged to collect from their local Cats Protection charity.
The family now plan to give both cats a home when they pick them up this weekend.
