A bulimia sufferer who thought her illness would kill her opens up about eight-year ordeal and is now trying to help others
Inspiring Colette Lydon, 21, never told her family how eating food would make her feel so guilty that she would cry – until it dawned on her that the mental illness could lead to her death.
The fourth year IT student at Queen’s University in Belfast suffered from the eating disorder since she was 13-years-old – after being bullied for her weight by school boys caused her self-confidence to plummet.
When she moved to university three years ago, away from the watchful eye of her family, her illness got so bad she began restricting her calories for entire weekends and even self-harmed.
