John Lewis’ latest Chistmas advert has attracted plenty of attention, however, a new study has found the advert has been outdone by Aldi’s seasonal effort.
The emotional John Lewis piece, titled the Man On The Moon, carries a powerful message about, as the advert’s tag line suggests ‘Showing someone they’re loved this Christmas’.
However, despite the tears that may have flowed as a result of the Man on the Moon, Aldi’s ‘Favourite Things’ has been voted the most effective Christmas campaign, with the John Lewis effort needing to settle for second place.
A thousand UK mothers and families took part in the study which was carried out by Net Mums’ online video community, Channel Mum.
The study found that over a third of mums would shop at Aldi after viewing ‘favourite things’, while 31 per cent were sold by the John Lewis advert.
Marks & Spencer’s came in third place, followed by Boots and Asda.
