Pop star Adele’s third album, 25, has become the fastest selling record in British history.
The star’s album has already sold 800,307 copies in the first week of its release to surpass Oasis’ Be Here Now which sold 696,00 on its debut in August 1997.
The singer’s album, which features the number one hit Hello, sold more than 300,000 copies within a day of going on sale.
Described as a “make up album”, it is also the UK’s most downloaded number one in history – selling 252,4423 copies.
The sales of 25 mean the album has received double platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry.
