Lindsay Watling, Westminster Correspondent A Church of Scotland congregation in London will host a debate on the European Union referendum today. Chaired by broadcaster Alastair Stewart, four politicians will present arguments for and against a British exit. Labour MP, Pat McFadden, who grew up in Glasgow, and English Conservative MP, Harriett Baldwin, will speak in favour of remaining. Former Scottish Office minister, Tory peer Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, and Labour MP, Kate Hoey, will make the case for leaving. The debate will take place at St Columba’s Church, which previously hosted debates on the Scottish independence referendum and the general election. Minister the Reverend Angus MacLeod said: “The EU referendum asks each of us to make a choice with long-term consequences for all. “It is surely right, therefore, to inform ourselves by listening to and questioning those advocating both the leave and the remain campaigns. “In line with the Church of Scotland’s encouragement to offer a space for respectful dialogue, the congregation is delighted to be able to do that.”
