TV images from a local German station have shown a person on top of a carpark next to the Olympia shopping centre where this afternoon’s attack took place.
It is currently unclear if this is the shooter behind the attack, which has so far left at least 10 people dead, it is understood.
A large security operation is currently underway, and the scene at the Moosach district surrounding the mall has been sealed off.
Reports have also claimed a second gunman has attacked a metro station in the city.
Security forces have been on high alert in Germany following an attack on a train in Bavaria which left five people injured.
