This NASA footage shows the awesome and destructive power of Hurricane Matthew as it churns it way through the waters of the Caribbean.
Filmed from the International Space Station, the footage shows how a mass of cloud has gathered around the weather system.
Around 430,000 people were evacuated from their home this week after life-threatening winds and rains moved in on the south-east coast of Haiti.
Colorado State University meteorologist Phil Klotzbach said the heavy rains in Haiti could lead to ‘a death toll in the thousands’.
11 people have already died after devastating wind and rain battered the island, with the system set to reach the Bahamas today and a chance it could hit the US south-east coast by Friday.
The US hurricane centre said the storm appeared to be on track to pass east of Florida through the Bahamas.
But they warned it was too soon to predict with certainty whether it would threaten the east coast.
