Eyewitnesses have reported more than 50 shots being fired after a gunman stormed a Congressional baseball practice. GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise is understood to have been involved in the incident. Police say they are investigating a “multiple shooting” in the Alexandria area of Washington DC and a suspect is currently in custody. Local media report there is a major police presence after the attack. White House press secretary Sean Spicer tweeted that President Donald Trump was being briefed. “Both @POTUS & @VP are aware of the developing situation in Virginia. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected,” he said.
