Footage of the moment nearly 100 baby sea turtles erupted from their hatch on a Florida beach has been released.
The three-inch-long loggerhead baby sea turtles surfaced in unison from the nest in the Lower Keys, Flordia, Friday 26 July.
The clip was recorded using a high definition “turtle webcam” that has been filming the nest for almost two weeks.
The webcam is part of ongoing efforts in the Keys to raise awareness of sea turtles and the need to protect them.
Harry Appel, president of the Keys based Save-a-Turtle organisation, said: “It’s so important here in the Keys to protect these nests and these turtles.
“They’ve been around for millions – maybe hundreds of millions – of years.”
Loggerhead sea turtles nest on beaches in the Keys and other parts of Florida and are considered to be threatened and endangered.
