Police have stormed the Sydney cafe where a number of people were being held hostage.
Heavy gunfire and a number of explosions were heard at the Lindt cafe while police and ambulance crews and a bomb disposal robot have all now entered the building.
Police and ambulance crews moved into the Sydney cafe shortly after the gunfire.
Several people have now been carried out on stretchers.
Five hostages escaped this morning, while another five ran free shortly before the gunfire broke out.
The gunman, named as Sheikh Man Haron Monis, had been in negotiations with Australian authorities for over 16 hours, however the decision was taken to storm the building and try to save the remaining hostages.
