The plane, with 162 people on board including one Brit lost contact with ground control while flying over the Java Sea after taking off from a provincial city in Indonesia for Singapore.
The two countries immediately launched a search and rescue operation but there has been no sightings of the plane.
The Singapore air force and the navy have helped with the search, alongside two C-130 planes.
The search had been suspended due to poor weather but an Indonesian official said it had resumed.
The airline said 155 passengers, including 16 children and one infant, and seven crew, including two pilots, four flight attendants and one engineer, were on the flight.
