Lightning strike blows huge hole in plane… But it still flies on

A plane managed to fly for more than 3,000 miles after a hole was blown in its nose by lightning.

The Boeing 757 had recently departed from Reykjavik in Iceland and was heading towards Denver when it was hit by the bolt.

Although passengers were told by the pilot what had happened many did not see the full damage until they landed safely in the US.

The plane travelled 3,740 miles after the incident.
