A convicted sex offender allegedly stole a school bus and drove around trying to pick up children.
Police have said that Patrick James Fredricksen walked out of his parole job, stole the school bus from the home of the driver and drove around in the vehicle asking about young children.
Officers reported the 30-year-old registered offender stole the bus in Cleveland, central Utah and found names and details of children inside the bus and was only stopped when members of the public became suspicious of the driver they did not recognise.
The woman who claims to have reported the driver explained: “He had a cigarette in his ear. He had this empty bus. He was going slow.
“I asked him, I was like ‘Are you subbing?’. He did not answer me directly.”
Police say Freidriksen walked out of his parole job, which he had only been in for two days since being given his freedom from jail, he is then reported to have stopped at a house asking for a young girl before going on to steal the bus and allegedly attempting to collect children.
He has now been charged with vehicle theft, attempted child kidnapping and damaging a jail.
