If you missed out on the Northern Lights last night, fear not, plenty of other people caught them on camera.
While Scotland was largely deprived of the natural phenomenon, large areas of America were treated to spectacular shows on Monday and Tuesday and again last night.
Our good friends at the Met Office released a video showing why the Northern Lights were visible in a number of locations this week.

And while the the UK was left disappointed with no sightings last night, a number of stunning pictures and videos have been taken in America this week, showing the Northern Lights in all their glory.
The natural phenomenon is caused by charged particles colliding in the Earth’s atmosphere and is seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemisphere.
Before a display, electrons and protons are hurled from the sun’s atmosphere and are blown towards the Earth by the solar wind.
Often these particles are then deflected by the Earth’s magnetic field but as it is weaker at either pole, some particles enter the atmosphere and collide with gas particles.
But enough of the science behind the event, here’s a look at some of the best pictures.
