An adventurer from Northern Ireland has completed the final leg of his round the world trip after five years and 27,500-miles in a gyrocopter.
Norman Surplus, is the first man to have circumnavigated the globe in this kind of ultralight aircraft.
And his final stop overs, were on The Isle of Lewis and Gigha.
The 52 year old a cancer survivor said his journey of hope had involved the whole world and he paid tribute to the humanity of those who helped him on his solo flight through so many different countries.
He ended his amazing trip on a playing field in Larne, Co Antrim, where family and friends waited to greet him as he landed his open cockpit craft.
Crossing deserts, jungles, mountains and oceans, the flight was an official FIA World Record attempt and was also meant to globally raise awareness of Bowel Cancer.
Upon landing the airborne adventurer said: “There is hope after surgery and chemotherapy and it is a very personal journey I have been on but I have managed to involve the whole world.”
You’d think after five years of travelling he’d have gotten a few incredible pictures…well you’d be right.
