Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter was stabbed to death on a Manhattan sidewalk yesterday (Sunday August 16).
Responding officers found E’Dena Hines, 33, lying in the street outside her home at 3am, with her ex-boyfriend standing over her lifeless body as he reportedly screamed incoherently.
According to the New York Post, Hines was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene then transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, officials said.
Morgan Freeman released a statement:
“The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer.
“Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.
“Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
“I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
