A reporter and videographer for WDBJ were killed in the shooting during this morning’s (Wednesday August 26) broadcast. Gunfire rang out as a journalist conducted an interview at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta. Screaming was heard as the camera drops to the ground. The broadcast cut back to the studio where a female anchor sat in stunned silence. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect targeted the news crew at 6.45am.
