Pictures have emerged from the streets of Paris this evening showing the full extent of tonight’s unprecedented attack on the French capital.
At least 130 people have been killed so far this evening after a series of attacks, which involved gunshots, explosions and suicide bombs.
President Francois Hollande has declared a state of emergency, and has closed his country’s borders.
Between 60 and 100 hostages are understood to have been taken at a concert hall, where the band Eagles of Death Metal were set to play.
It is understood that around 100 people died in the concert hall.
The two attackers have now been killed.
Parisians are currently seeking shelter from the ongoing attacks, and residents of the city have thrown open their doors to welcome in those fleeing danger.
President Barack Obama earlier described the attack as an attack not just on the French people, but “all of humanity”.
Earlier this evening a shootout took place at a restaurant in the city, killing a number of people.
Tonight’s developments brought back memories of January, when one of the world’s great cities was brought to a standstill by Islamist extremists.
On that occasion the French capital was rocked first by the Charlie Hebdo atrocity, when 12 people were killed after gunmen stormed the offices of the satirical magazine.
Three explosions are also reported outside a bar near the Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.
The sense of panic heightened when there was a subsequent attack on a Kosher supermarket, and the incidents triggered worldwide outrage.
