It became the subject of a song which kept allied troops going during the Second World War, and now evidence has been found that Adolf Hitler did in fact only have one testicle.
A German Historian claims to have found proof through medical records that the Nazi leader had an undescended testicle, which comes from a doctor’s examination of him in Landsbery prison in 1923.
The records showed up in 2010 at an auction and have now been studied in depth by Professor Peter Fleischmann of Erlangen-Nuremburg university.
The notes from medical officer Dr Josef Steiner stated: “Adolf Hitler, artist, recently writer” and described him as “healthy and strong” but suffering from “right-side cryptorchidism.”
Professor Fleischmann told Bild that this showed one of Hitler’s testicles was “probably stunted.”
The popular story went that Hitler lost a testicle from shrapnel wounds in the Battle of the Somme.
And so the song amused allied troops may have been true all along.
