Social Media giant, Twitter, hit a technical glitch this morning around 8:20am and stopped working entirely.
No explanation was supplied as to why the site had crashed.
The website is one of the most popular in the world and has become one of the key ways that the public can stay up to speed with a vast sampling of what is important across the globe.
As always happens when a primary site like this goes down, users immediately went on Facebook and posted status updates complaining that Twitter was down.
The problem affecting the service apparently is global, with reports of Twitter being inaccessible coming from the UK, Netherlands, the UAE, the US and other countries.
The company has updated its @support account to say: “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”
Downdetector, which monitors website outages throughout the world, hosts a Twitter outage map which shows that the problem is prevalent across Britain and Europe.
