A star of Kojak and Knots Landing has died of a heart attack aged 77.
American actor and US armed forces veteran Kevin Dobson died on Sunday.
The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County – where he once served as a chairman – announced the star’s death on Facebook. The post read: “The United Veterans Council regrets to inform you that our former Chairman and Army Veteran Kevin Dobson passed away this evening Sunday, September 6, 2020 due to medical complications. Our condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.”
The actor was born on March 18 in 1943 in Jackson Heights, New York. He began his working career as a as a trainman, brakeman, and a conductor on the Long Island Railroad.
After his stint on the railways, he then worked as a waiter.
In his early acting career, he appeared on shows like One Life to Live, The Doctors, The Mod Squad, Emergency! and Cannon.
His first major role was as detective Bobby Crocker which aired for five season on CBS from 1973-1978. He later reunited with the cast for the 1990 TV film Kojak: It’s Always Something.”
In 1982, he joined the cast of Knots Landing during its fourth season as Marion Patrick “Mack” MacKenzie. He was one of the main cast members until its cancellation in 1993.
Several years later in 1997, he returned for the miniseries called Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-De-Sac.
He later appeared on soap operas such as The Bold and the Beautiful as judge Devin Owens from 2006-2007 and Days of Our Lives as Mickey Horton in 2008 which are among his most recent credits.
Some of his other appearances include House of Lies, Hawaii Five-0 and Anger Management.
Throughout his 50 years in show business he earned five Soap Opera Digest Awards.
He is survived by his wife Susan who he married in 1968 and their three children Mariah, Patrick and Sean.
