The long awaited launch of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus has now happened and Apple-ites throughout the world are queueing up to order and pay for their new toy.
However it’s just a bit too late for me I’m afraid, as I thought it would never happen and signed up for an SE 64gb only two weeks ago.
The obvious difference between this new iPhone and previous ones is the missing earphone socket, but Apple is certain its loyal customers will quickly adapt to the wireless system on the new phone, with each one coming with a free adaptor and lightning EarPods – although not the fancy wireless AirPod headphones, which will be released for sale later.
Both Helen and I have iPhones and we both have to buy ear phones because sadly the ones Apple supply are uncomfortable and don’t always stay in our ears. I’m sure we’re not the only ones.
Looking at pictures of the new wireless AirPods, it would appear the design is very similar to the wired versions of previous models.
I for one won’t be buying the new 7 or any future models as they come along, if they persist in ignoring the comfort factor some customers are looking for.
I guess what they will do, like many other manufacturers, is offer more comfortable earphones which they will invariably sell at inflated prices – that is until other manufacturers come up with a cheaper alternative which, I suspect they started working on the day after Apple launched the new phone.
Apple has obviously taken a major risk in abandoning the headphone socket in favour of their new wireless system and with so much competition out there I fear they may have backed the wrong horse on this occasion. The principle of having a wireless system is great, but isn’t it simply another thing that could go wrong?
I fear they have backed wrong horse
Will Amazon food service take flight?
The successful Amazon Prime is launching a new home delivery fast food service in the UK.
It is billed as being totally different to the usual services we see online and will provide quality Michelin meals to your door.
Diversification seems to be the name of the game in increasing this mega company’s turnover and profits, rather than simply depending on the growth of its retail and video divisions.
Keeping the food warm is important, so I wonder if they’ll use their new drone delivery service for this?
Loggerheads over Brexit questions
Scottish and UK Governments are at loggerheads over Britain’s decision to leave the EU and Scotland on the verge of another independence vote to leave the UK but to stay in Europe.
The big question for many is: can we afford to be in the EU and allow the free flow of EU citizens? I was reading about a French family of 10 who have been on benefits since arriving in the UK. A population of 65 million can absorb this expense, but can 5 million do the same?
There’s no doubt we need immigration to replace our aging workforce, but how will we handle immigrants who can’t or won’t work?
