According to former Prime Minister Tony Blair, the world is a better place for the removal of Saddam Hussein.
Obviously, he’s still in denial and trying to spin the truth about his actions on the run-up to the Iraq War, which led to a huge number of British servicemen and women losing their lives.
It’s a conflict which might never have happened if MPs had been told the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I can’t understand why he was so committed to helping President Bush.
Even our own MI6 produced fictitious information for Blair to move ahead at speed with his irrational desire to rid the world of Iraq’s leader and his so-called weapons of mass destruction.
Parliament took the decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein and in doing so put our military personnel on the firing line, poorly equipped and unable to defend themselves against the homemade bombs or IEDs.
I found it interesting how Jeremy Corbyn attacked his once colleague, although not surprising as he was against the war from the onset and called it an ‘act of military aggression launched on a false pretext’.
Give the Labour leader his due, he has apologised to victims’ families, while Tony Blair instead states he’d do exactly the same again.
Without a doubt, there will be a great deal of political debate and finger pointing over the next few weeks and months, but will anything really be done at the end of the day, other than promises being made about lessons learned.
I truly believe Tony Blair to be a war criminal and as such he should be stripped of any honours he’s received.
He should also be taken to The Hague and put on trial for those crimes, committed in our name.
Stock Exchange move ‘ridiculous’
I’m really concerned that German Deutsche Borse look set to take over the London Stock Exchange and move it to Frankfurt.
MPs will be doing their utmost to stop the transfer happening, but because we’re still members of the EU they’ll have a difficult task ahead of them.
European regulators appear to be supportive of the move.
The LSE was established 215 years ago and is a British institution, to even consider such a move is ridiculous to say the least and shouldn’t be allowed to happen.
Welcome news Ryanair returns to N-east
It has now been confirmed that Aberdonians will once again be able to fly to their favourite Spanish holiday destination, as Aberdeen Airport announced two new routes will start in February.
Ryanair are coming back to Aberdeen with what I hope will be cheap flights to Alicante and Malaga.
These airports serve the popular holiday resorts of Benidorm, Marbella and Torremolinos to name but a few.
It’s been a long time coming since Monarch and Globespan flew thousands of holiday makers from the North-east to these great destinations.
I for one won’t miss those early morning long drives down to the Edinburgh or Glasgow to catch an equally early departure for these resorts.
